Satan’s most fatal arrow against the Christian is to convince him that God is against him or has abandoned him, especially in his time of pain and need. Just imagine the life of a young orphan. Jesus often assured His disciples – “I will not leave you as orphans” – because the feeling of abandonment is devastating to one’s destiny. God wants you to know that He is mindful of you.
Satan wants you to think God has forgotten you or doesn’t care when you feel alone, the answer to your prayer is delayed, or when you have had a setback. The Psalmist assures our hearts with today’s text, “God will deliver, help, spare, save, and redeem the needy, poor, or forgotten.” He is aware of every tear and will wipe them in due course. He is mindful of you and never forgets His own.
David himself went through a lot. His boss persecuted him; he was in peril of losing his life; he lost a newborn son; his son rebelled against him, and he was a wandering fugitive for 13 years. But sitting on his throne later and living his dream, he must have looked back at his moments of despair and penned our text, “He will deliver the needy when he cries, the poor also, and him who has no helper. He will spare the poor…He will redeem their life from oppression and violence…”
Are you dealing with unanswered prayers, unmet expectations, and contrary winds, wondering if God still knows you are there or even cares? I assure you it won’t always be like this; I know from experience. God has not forgotten your need, and your expectation shall not perish. A nursing mother cannot forget her child; God cannot forget you. Let this be your confidence.
A pastor once told me about a man he ‘sensed’ to call promptly. On answering the phone, the man, who had lost everything he had, burst out crying and said, “Now I know God has not forgotten me.” He had a gun on the seat next to him in the car and was about to ‘end it all’ when the call came in. He started again upon counsel, and God has restored all he lost.
Don’t let satan lie to you because of your present situation; God is mindful of you.
