“This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.” – I Timothy 1:15
REFERENCE:
It is the last day of the first half of the year. We have spent the week reflecting on the goodness and mercies of God in the previous six months. Possibly, you may look back and say, “Well, I don’t have much to thank God for.” Do you have salvation? Do you know that is the greatest thing God has done for you, and nothing else compares to it? Your joyful song today should be, ‘He saved me.’
Listen to Apostle Paul in our text. He reflected on who he was before God saved him. It will take this same attitude to value your salvation. He said, “I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man, and the chief of sinners, but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.” Paul was awed that God did not just stop at saving a man like him but, by His love and grace, put him into the ministry. What is your pre-conversion story?
Oh, the nights of fear, days of uncertainty about the future, nonstop harassment in dreams, emotional torment, addiction to all vices, and lack of self-control. It seemed there was no way out, then the light of God’s love in Jesus Christ shone into your heart, and here you are today. Have you ever thought about what your life would look like if Jesus didn’t come in?
That is my personal story. I cannot forget the incredible difference I felt on me the day He saved me. The spirit of fear left, and He lifted the heavy burden I always carried. Then freedom came, life made sense, and I had meaning; yes, salvation came into my heart. He saved me. I am who I am today because He is who He is, my Savior. I have every reason to think and thank Him.
Old things have passed away, and all things have become new. Salvation has opened the door to abundant life here on earth and eternal life in heaven. Thank God for your salvation, what it means to you, what it has done for you, and the difference it made in your life. From a heart of gratitude to God, I end with what Paul said, “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
