“…not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some…” – Hebrews 10:25a
REFERENCE: Hebrews 10:21-25
A good Christian is in the habit of gathering with other believers for fellowship. Fellowship is necessary for a successful and effective Christian walk. Our text counsels us that Jesus’ return is soon, so we should not neglect fellowship. Fellowship is a friendly association with people with whom one shares the same interests. It is union, mutual support, comradeship, brotherhood, and solidarity. These words already speak of the benefits of fellowship.
For a Christian, fellowship is the place of growth, productivity, and accountability. Fellowship encourages the hearts of believers and provides a platform where we can support and care for one another. In the place of fellowship, people testify of their personal encounters with God’s goodness, feel a sense of belonging, and experience the comfort of being a part of the body of Christ. In fellowship with one another, we are in fellowship with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ (I John 1:3).
There is power and protection in fellowship. “Two are better than one for they have a greater reward for their labor, and two can resist an attack that would defeat one person alone.” In fellowship, you gain victory over depression and other schemes of the devil. You do not have to go through challenges alone, because you have people who will not only pray for you but will look out for you. In fellowship, do not be a stranger; build friendships and find a safe place to be vulnerable enough to get help.
The devil will seek to separate you from fellowship when things are tough, but that is when to stay in fellowship. You need someone’s prayer and care just like someone needs yours. If you are not in a fellowship already, seek out a bible believing church to fellowship in, where you know people and are known by them. In Acts 4:23-24, after Peter and John had been released from jail after the harassment from authorities, they went back to their companions, their fellowship and told them everything and they prayed and encouraged them.
Stay in fellowship! Remain with your company!

REFLECTION:
When last did you assemble with other believers? Are you at a point where you have been deceived to think you don’t need other believers? It is a dangerous place to be. I counsel you by scripture, to return to your place of fellowship – your church or small group. Let other irons sharpen your iron and let the burning coals in those fellowships light you on fire for God again.
“In fellowship, do not be a stranger; build friendships and find a safe place to be vulnerable enough to get help.”
So, often, we think we are fine and need no one, so we stay away and aloof. However, you never know how much you need the right people around you until the day you need the right people around you.
You never know how much you need the right people until you need the right people.
Thank You Lord for the gift of being planted in a great fellowship.
