The sick man answered Him, ‘Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.’ ~ John 5:7
REFERENCE
John 5:1-9
Truth be told, a lot of us, like the sick man in this passage, have had to mutter these same words under our breath or even out loud. We all get to that point when we wish somebody was there for us to pull the next strings for us, to cover for us or to help us out. For some of us, it has been our way of explaining things away.
Our passage shows us that there was a great multitude of sick people (weak and distress and in need of repair) who laid by the pool of Bethesda waiting for something to happen. They were described as: “blind, lame and paralyzed. This means, they were without direction, lacking substance, deprived and incapacitated in one way or the other.
When Jesus came on the scene, things took a turn for the better especially for the sick man who had been there for 38 years. Thus, disproving the belief that ‘you must have a man to get ahead in life.’ Jesus alone, is HELP SUFFICIENT for every man. Vain is the help of man…our help is in the name of the Lord!
So, no matter in which of the categories described above you fall, and no matter how long you have been there, God has made adequate provision for your cure …He has the remedy for every malady. Just like His grace was sufficient to heal this sick man, His grace is also sufficient to deliver you from whatever dilemma you are facing today. You are next in line to receive your miracle!
