“Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.” ~ Genesis 28:12
REFERENCE:
Welcome to a new month! Yesterday, we learned about Jacob sleeping in a ‘certain place’, which he eventually discovered was the gate of heaven and the house of God. That ‘certain place’ was an unequaled opportunity given to Jacob; the significance of that place was rooted in the ladder he saw standing on the earth, but whose top reached into the heavens.
A closer look shows that Jesus Christ was that ladder. The foot on earth represents His human nature, humiliation, and burial, while the top in heaven symbolizes His divine nature, exaltation, and resurrection. Since man fell, his interaction with God (or heaven) is through the ladder – “for there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus” (I Timothy 2:5.) He is the highway to holiness, the roadway to righteousness, the doorway to deliverance, and the gateway to glory. Every favor we receive from God comes through this ‘ladder,’ and our service and worship go to God through the same ladder – Jesus Christ. It is because of His office as redeemer and Lord of all that the angels of God minister to us, ascending with our requests and descending with help and answers from God.
As this new month begins, fix your attention on Christ Jesus. Climb this ladder to your place of help and rest in God. The economy may be in turmoil, your city may be dangerous and insecure, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to trust people; but climb this ladder. God is all you need to have all your needs met, and guess what? God is the One at the top of the ladder. Yes, the ladder leads to God, our help in ages past, and our hope for years to come.
A ladder lifts you to heights you cannot attain. It affords you the privilege to reach things your limitation will not allow you to, and it can bring you to a place where you see things you would not have seen, but for the ladder. In other words, a ladder represents a height advantage.
In this new month, may Jesus, the ladder that reaches heaven, give you height. May He show you things you never saw and take you to great heights in your career, finances, business, family, education, and ministry. When the storms of failure, despondency, and discouragement are raging and people all around you are sinking in them, may you get a ‘lift’ through the Lord Jesus Christ. May this be a month of supernatural advantage for you, in Jesus’ name.
