“And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” – Genesis 22:14

REFERENCE: Genesis 22:1-14

We have one of the most intriguing stories in the bible unfolding here. A father is on his way to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. Imagine the anxiety and the myriads of emotions on their minds. The father is afraid he may return home empty-handed, while the son wonders why there is no animal for the sacrifice as at other times. Could he be the sacrificial animal? He asks his father, “I see the fire and the wood; where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” This question, the answer to it, and the miracle of God all reveal another name of God to us – Jehovah Jireh.

When Isaac said, “Where is the lamb?” He meant, “I see the fire and the wood, but I can’t see the lamb.” Abraham replied, “The Lord will provide for Himself the lamb.” Provide in Hebrew is ‘Ra’ah.’ It means to appear, cause to see, or sight; it is the root of Jireh. When Abraham said, ‘the Lord will provide…’, he implied, “God will cause us to see what we can’t now see. He will cause the lamb to appear. He will bring what He has made available to sight.” Just before Abraham slew Isaac, the Angel of the Lord spoke to him and caused him to see a ram in the thicket. Verse 13 says, “Abraham lifted his eyes and looked.” Abraham ra’ah – he saw, sighted, or beheld the lamb that appeared. Abraham must have wondered when the ram appeared, so, he named the place, Jehovah Jireh, meaning, the Lord will provide; better still, ‘the Lord will cause His provision to be seen, or God will make His supply to appear.’ Isaac said, “I can’t see the lamb.” Abraham said, “God will make us see one.” God indeed made them see a ram.

Like Isaac, you may say, “I can see some things, but I can’t see ‘that thing.’ Jehovah Jireh will cause you to see His provision. He will provide what is lacking and what you desire shall appear. You will see your job, spouse, graduation, healing, the finance, promotion, house, family, etc. Abraham must have seen the thicket earlier and saw no ram, but Jehovah Jireh caused the ram to appear. You may not see what you desire now, but God will cause it to appear. If it is not around you, He will lead you to where you will see it. The Lord will do a miracle of provision; your eyes will see (ra’ah) what your heart has desired. Declare in faith like Abraham, “Jehovah Jireh will make me see His provision; it will appear when I need it. I will not be disappointed! I will see His provision for the project, the children’s school fees, daily upkeep in school, my staff’s salary, support for my parents, and execute my dreams.” On this mount of the Lord, it shall be provided (or seen).

PRAYERS:

Lord, open my eyes to ra’ah (see) Your provision in my circumstances. Remove the scales of doubt, fear, unbelief and past experiences from my eyes. I will see my desires come to pass regarding every legitimate need in my life; I will not go empty-handed. I will see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living, yes. I declare, On this mountain of my quiet time this morning, it shall be provided, in Jesus’ name.
