“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.” ~ Isaiah 60:1
REFERENCE:
Yesterday we began paying close attention to the verse above and its instructions. The first was to ARISE, and the second was SHINE. It is also a command! ‘SHINE’ is an action; it is a verb. The following describes what it means to SHINE:
1. To emit or reflect light to glow.
2. To distinguish oneself, to excel
3. To be immediately apparent
4. To be eminent, conspicuous.
Light has come, and we are to shine. We are to reflect that light and glow. Light has come, and glory is upon us to distinguish us, to display us to the world. The scripture makes us understand that darkness exists, but when light shines on you, and glory is on you, nations and kings will be drawn to you as you shine. You cannot ARISE and hide your light or cover your glory.
The relationship between the Sun and Moon is a picture of what this scripture tells us. We see the Sun and moon as two bodies of light, but the moon generates no light by itself; because it gets it from the Sun. The Sun shines on the moon, which reflects the light that has arisen upon it from the Sun, and men love its beauty and glory.
Light has come into your life; the life of Christ is in you; the Holy Spirit is within you; you have the glory of God upon you, so SHINE. Light did not come into your life for you to be covered or hidden. It came for you to show the gift of God that is within you. Do not hide the wisdom within you; share your testimonies of God’s healing or provisions. Jesus says we should let our light shine before men, so when men see our good works, the glory goes to God.
The devil knows when you SHINE, distinguish yourself, or excel, darkness is conquered and God is glorified. He does not want it. He will keep you covered and make you feel ugly, small, and unsure of who you are so you do not SHINE and are not seen by those who need your light. Fight it! Shine, and let the glory of God upon you be seen. God’s plan is not only for you to Arise but to Shine and display God to your world. If Lazarus had remained wrapped in grave clothes when he arose from the grave, would he have been able to shine by sharing his testimony with many?
