“Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.” ~ Isaiah 45:22

“Look to me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth…” This promise of God is reassuring: there is salvation and relief for all who turn their gaze toward Him in times of trials. This chapter tells of God’s sovereignty over all nations and peoples; His salvation is not limited to Israel but extends to the ends of the earth. God will help and save anyone who looks to Him for help.
Life’s struggles sometimes come back-to-back, so you get overwhelmed by the weight of your situation. Yet, amid the difficulty and hopelessness, God’s gentle voice rings to you, “Look to Me.” David said, “They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed” (Psalm 34:5). If God extends an invitation to you, it is because He wants you to hand the matter over to Him while you maintain your peace; He will fight and give you victory.
I have noticed that trouble consumes your attention until you become so self-focused. Looking to God requires a conscious decision to shift your focus away from the present trials and uncertainties to God. Although it is tough, you have to decide to give less attention to what unsettles you and give more attention to God’s word. Hebrews 12:2 (AMPC) says, “Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith…”
Trouble tends to force a sense of urgency on us, which leads people to seek destructive options instead of looking to God. Looking to God requires trusting patience, knowing that His timing is perfect and His strength is made perfect in our weakness. If we do not have God as a present help in times of trouble, I wonder how life would be. No wonder David said, “Happy is the nation of whom this is true; happy are the people whose God is the Lord!” ~ Psalm 144:15
A ship’s sailor caught in a storm who has lost his bearing in the night knows what it means to look to the lighthouse to guide it to the harbor. When all around him is stormy, dark, and uncertain, he looks out for that light far away and steers the ship in its direction. God said, “Look to Me;” He knows the way to your safe harbor. Don’t be terrified by the uncertainty and the fear of the unknown; look to Him and put your hand in His; he will take you home safely.
