“Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts.” ~ I Peter 3:10 (NIV)
REFERENCE:
James 3:2-5 (NIV)
In the last episode, we saw the connection between the tongue and seeing good days. The Lord wants me to stay on the same thought – the power of the tongue. Your words can shape your life and create a haven of serenity. Your tongue is tiny compared to other body parts, but God put it there so you can make great boasts – big declarations about your life and future.
I have often seen our main verse as a negative trait of the tongue, that it brags and can get you in trouble. Although that is true, the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to see that the tongue is in place so that you can make great boasts about what God can accomplish in your life. God wants your mouth to declare big and great things. David said, “I will make my boast in the Lord.” A sanctified tongue will declare God’s ability to save, heal, give wealth, make great, and bless.
James reveals how much influence the tongue has in that, as little as it is, it can make big things happen. So, God’s counsel is, “Use your mouth to declare things about your God and yourself, that when people hear, they will think you are boasting.” Bishop Oyedepo will say, “I can never be poor in this life.” Alexander Dowie once sent a telegraph in response to one sent to him to pray for a woman about to die; he said in the Telegraph, “I have prayed, she will live.” Wow!
You will say, “Who do these men think they are to speak with such confidence? They are bragging.” The tongue is for bragging! Train it to say big things beyond you; create a great future for yourself; call yourself blessed; talk about the kind of life or car you want, the lives you will touch, and the miracles you will see. Say things that when your mind hears them, it will first shrink in fear. When Jesus said, “Son, your sins are forgiven” and “The Father and I are one,” the people there felt those words were too big for His mouth, but He said them, nonetheless.
What if God says, “I will give you whatever you say?” or He tells all of creation to attend to any demand you make or desire you express; won’t you make great boasts? Do you notice that you try to say some things, and your heart skips a beat, hinting that they are unattainable and too big? If you ever feel like that, you are already making great boasts; continue. The tongue is not just for licking, tasting, or swallowing food; it is for speaking. Use it to shape your future.

TO DO:
Touch your tongue with the tip of your finger and ask God to sanctify it (that might be a gigantic task). Then begin to make great boasts about your life, family, ministry, marriage, children, business, service to God and man, etc. Don’t hold back; talk big. God will give grace and enablement to bring them to pass. Please, write some of your great boasts in the comment box.
