Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.’ Luke 10:17
There is unlimited and so much untapped power in the name of Jesus. The disciples discovered that as they went on their mission –sicknesses were healed and stubborn demonic entities heeded their words of command in the name of Jesus.
Philippians 2:9-11 shows that the name of Jesus is above every other name, and when mentioned, things in heaven, on earth and beneath the earth bow and confess that Jesus is Lord over all. ‘Jesus’ is no ordinary name; it carries such authority that all of the seen and unseen creation submit to it.
As believers, Jesus gave us the power of attorney to use His name to do the things He would have done if He were on the earth. The authority in the name of Jesus emanates from the Person of Jesus; so, when we use the name of Jesus, we are affirming our confident trust in who He is and what He has already done for us. Many today don’t understand the power in that name, so they use it religiously at the end of their prayers without giving any thought to the power inherent in it.
As a matter of fact, using the name of Jesus without understanding the Person of Jesus or the power inherent in His name doesn’t yield results. Not understanding this truth, the seven sons of Sceva in Acts 19:11-17, tried using the name of Jesus to cast out demons just as they saw Paul did; but it backfired on them and they were severely wounded and disgraced.
Peter declared boldly in Acts 3:16 that it was ‘FAITH’ in the name of Jesus that healed the lame man at the beautiful gate. Thus, it is not mere chanting the name ‘Jesus’, but exercising faith when using the name that births the supernatural results that Jesus promised we would see when we use His name. The name of Jesus remains above every other name today; and whatever has a name must submit to it; use it in faith to do exploits here on earth.
Whatever your challenge is today, be it your health, finance, relationship, business, career, family, etc., apply the name of Jesus in faith against it, and command that challenge to bow in submission to the power and authority in the name of Jesus
