POSITIONED TO FULFILL PURPOSE

“Then I said, ‘Here I am, God. It is written about me in the book of the law. I have come to do what you want.’” – Hebrews 10:7 (ERV)

The essence of life and living is purpose. Breathing is not enough if a man’s life is not about purpose; he is just occupying space. ‘Purpose’ is the reason for the existence of all things. A bed looks different from a shelf because of its purpose. The reason for your uniqueness is purpose. Fulfilling your purpose is the best way to live a satisfying life and bring glory to God.

Nothing matters more than knowing God’s purpose for your life and nothing can compensate for not knowing it. Jesus was definite about why He came; He knew He was on earth to execute what God wanted. His life was not about what He liked, preferred, or wanted; it was about ensuring that he lived each day in such a way as to give pleasure to His Sender, God.

God has things written concerning you in His book, things He had in mind before you were born. Purpose predates creation; hence, you only make something because you have a particular use or purpose for it. You came because you are needed; there is work to do, lives to touch, impact to make, stories to write, hurts to heal, changes to effect, etc., you are not a useless nobody. You are an answer to prayer, a song of freedom, a word of hope, a rebuilder of broken lives, a touch of compassion, and a restorer of destiny and dignity for many. Do not let life lead you anywhere without a sense of purpose. Do not live life by chance, waiting for what each day brings. Be intentional. Be hungry to discover your ‘why’ for being on earth, and when you find it, let that hunger continually drive you to fulfill it.

Let me tell you this for free: Whatever your purpose, it should connect to serving humanity and bringing glory to God. So, to position yourself for purpose, get amongst people, and find a need of theirs; some of these will grip your heart and not let go. Engage such identified needs with solutions and watch how your life will take a new turn. Jesus understood this about purpose – that it is always about people – so, He came amongst people. It was only then He could heal, deliver, or save them. His purpose would have been unfulfilled if He was not among men.

You are here to represent God and shine as light in the dark, using the platform God has given you (Matthew 5:14-16). Locate your platform and engage it because of the lives and destinies connected to you. Your impact will shock you when you reposition for purpose. All you need to position yourself is a humble prayer from a place of hunger, “Here I am, Use me, O Lord.”

+ Relocate me among the people whose problems I must solve and whose questions I must answer.

+ Ask for wisdom, understanding, strength, and courage to passionately pursue the purpose of God for you.
