“He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God.” ~ Romans 4:20
REFERENCE:
Have you ever been in a place where your reality looks nothing like your promise, where what you see looks nothing like what God said? It can be unsettling and discouraging. Abraham had a promise from God, and after 24 years, it looked like God had forgotten. Imagine a married couple who tried to have children for over 45 years of their married lives. When the man was 75 years old and the wife, 65, God promised them they would have a child. It did not happen the following year but in another 25 years.
So much can go wrong in 25 years to make you doubt if you heard God. Your ‘desire’ for your spouse reduces, your skin starts to wrinkle, and all the natural forces that make for pregnancy, childbirth, and suckling a child grow weak. However, Abraham held on in faith until he received the lovely son God promised years earlier. How did he do that?
- Abraham believed God when there was no physical reason to believe Him.
- He credited God with great ability – He said He gives life to the dead and calls things that do not exist as though they did.
- Abraham did not focus on contrary physical evidence and facts – his and Sarah’s bodies.
- He refused to be double-minded about what he expected. He was resolute in faith.
- He renewed and strengthened his faith by continual thanksgiving to God.
- He assured his heart that God could do what He said He would do.
Are you waiting for a promise to be fulfilled like Abraham? Abraham’s story tells us that God does not forget but keeps His promise. So, remember that faithful is He who has promised and stay with the promise. Fight thoughts contrary to God’s promise; instead, actively recount His past faithfulness to you, others, and those in the bible. Do away with grumbling and whining, and develop an attitude of gratitude. Say to God, “You can do it later, but I will thank you now.” Take your eyes off other ‘alluring options’ and stay with the promise. Remember, God is not a man that He should lie to you. Abraham, at last, received his son; you also will receive the manifestation of what you are expecting.
Don’t get distracted by contrary winds. Stay with the promise of God. I tell you, heaven and earth may pass away, but what God has promised you will happen, in Jesus’ name.
HAPPY FATHERS’ DAY to all fathers!
