“I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing.” – Genesis 12:2
REFERENCE:
God plans that you live a blessed life, where you enjoy God’s special favor, mercy, provision, and protection from harm. Thinking that God’s blessings are only tangible things has led some ‘Christians’ astray; they make the acquisition of ‘things’ like cars, money, and properties their sole pursuit. When these ‘things’ delay in coming, they turn away from God and leave the church. They do not understand that the blessing of God is the intangible that produces the tangible.
One of the powerful concepts in the bible is ‘the blessing’. It was the first thing God invoked upon man, “…and the Lord blessed them.” It is what parents bequeath to their children. Jacob knew the value of the father’s blessing, so he traded his kill to acquire it, but Esau lost it, for he esteemed it lightly. Their father’s blessing affected the descendants of both Jacob and Esau.
In what we call the Priestly blessing, God instructed Aaron and his sons to invoke His blessing on the Israelites: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26. The cup in the Lord’s Supper is called the cup of blessing; it is how we partake of the invaluable benefits purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 10:16). As believers, the blessing of the Lord is our greatest wealth; “The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it!”
The blessing represents the very essence of God; it is an invocation of divine presence upon a man; it is God imparting to man the divine essence that sustains him. It is divine empowerment, intangible enablement, divine favor, and the invisible goodwill that produces visible good things (material proofs in a man’s life). “The Lord bless you” is one of the sweetest phrases to proceed from man to man. If spoken by one in touch with heaven, the blessing triggers activities in the realm of the spirit that attracts favor and mercy, commissions angels and men to work in your favor, and turns events around. A man blessed by God enjoys favor, peace, prosperity, divine health, and the good things life has to offer – total life prosperity.
Declare to yourself, “I am blessed.”
