Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! ~ 1 John 3:1
REFERENCE
1 John 3:1-12
The world celebrates today (February 14th) as Valentine’s Day – a day of love, set aside for people to both receive and show love to others. Love connotes different things to different people, but in its pure form, it is the nature of God. God showed us His nature by giving us His unconditional love although we were undeserving of it. Because of this love, we are now called ‘Children of God.’
1 John 4:7&8 admonishes us to love one another because we are born of God and know Him. This means the way we show that we belong to God is through the selfless acts of love we show to others made in the same image and likeness of God.
However, today we see a lot of ‘loveless acts’ by ‘children of God’ who supposedly should be showing God’s love nature to the world. They put one another down for selfish reasons. They take advantage of others and treat them unfairly. There is so much lovelessness & unforgiveness in their relationships. etc.
These things ought not to be so, because where there is envy and strife, there is every evil work. (James 3:16).
Pause today and appraise your love walk. Ask yourself: ‘If Jesus was married to my spouse how will He treat them?’ ‘If Jesus was the GM in my organization, how will He relate with the staff?’ ‘If Jesus was involved in my business transactions, will He cheat the partners?’ ‘If Jesus was my head of department, how will He lead?’ etc.
May your answers help you improve and make adjustments where necessary, in Jesus name.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
