“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” ~ Matthew 2:2
REFERENCE:
Merry Christmas! As the world celebrates Christmas, it is sad that for many, it is just another day to party, eat, give and receive gifts, etc. Others only see it as just any other day on the calendar. They do not understand that it is the celebration of the birth of the King of Kings.
People like these were in Jerusalem when Jesus was born, it seems. They were clueless about the big miracle God brought to their quarters; something that shook the world did not register in their minds. When the wise men from the East arrived in Jerusalem, they asked, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?” The present continuous tense of the word ‘saying,’ suggests continuing action. They asked as many people as they met in the city.
These wise men came from around the Middle East and Asia to Jerusalem, about 9-11 kilometers from Bethlehem, after being intimated of this monumental birth. They assumed that everyone in Judea, and certainly in Jerusalem, would know of the birth of this special Baby and where He was. They must have been more shocked to discover that no one seemed to know what they were talking about. Herod did not know; he was troubled, and all of Jerusalem with him. In fact, the priests and scribes only knew by studying prophecy.
As you celebrate this Christmas, ask yourself, “Where is the newborn King?” As you eat, drink, visit, give, travel, party, etc., where is the newborn King? Let Him be the center and object of your celebration. Let this Christmas bring you into a discovery of His person, love, mercy, and the salvation He brought and still offers to man. When the question is asked, “Where is the newborn king,” the answer should be, “He is here in my heart.”
I pray that you will not miss any good thing that God is doing in your generation that will be of benefit to you. May you not be ignorant of any person, news, idea, or organization that God will use to give you a lift in life. Be as sensitive as these wise men: be ready to pay the price, willing to make the journey, and humble enough to ask the right questions as many times as possible. You will experience the reality of the promises of God made to you. May this be your best Christmas and signal a season of continual joy in your family, in Jesus’ name.
