“Thus says the LORD to His anointed, To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held — To subdue nations before him and loose the armor of kings, to open before him the double doors, So that the gates will not be shut.” ~ Isaiah 45:1

Do you sometimes wonder if you have what it takes to do what God has called you to do? Do you feel you are to bless multitudes but struggle with the how or capacity to? What you need is divine enablement to do the work of God. That divine enablement is the oil of God – the anointing. When God anoints a man, his results are remarkable and outstanding.
‘Anointed’ means ‘Messiah’ (mâshı̂yach) or ‘Christos’ (Christ) in Greek. So, our text means, “To Cyrus, My Christ,” that is, My anointed. This title was often used for kings in Israel because they were consecrated to the throne by anointing with oil. It symbolized God’s hand upon them, the grace to dispense their office, and the wisdom and authority to be judges.
Persian kings were not consecrated by oil, but God called Cyrus’ anointed’ because he was set apart to perform a divine mission. Cyrus was a Persian king who played a pivotal role in God’s plan of deliverance for the Israelites, allowing them to return to their land, rebuild their Temple, and restore their worship. He did all these because of God’s anointing/appointment.
As a child of God, you are anointed to carry out God’s purpose and mission for your life. You have the oil of God on your life to function in the marketplace, ministry, academia, health care, military, public service, entertainment, security, etc. You are anointed to be a ‘savior’ like Jesus Christ. Destinies are connected to you, and many will remain in the prisons of sin, hopelessness, ignorance, and fear until you answer God’s name for you – “Stella or Solomon, my anointed.”
The problem is not that many don’t believe that God can do big things, but can He do it through them?” As a Christian, be conscious that you have God’s grace and oil in your life. God is committed to you as He was to Cyrus, saying, “Whose right hand I have held, to subdue kings before him, and open to him the double doors. If a heathen king could do great exploits because he is anointed by God, how much more you who have Christ (the Anointed) in you?
