But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

Isaiah 40:28-31
Scripture often compares Christians with the eagle; a close examination of an eagle’s lifestyle pictures a victorious Christian who follows and pleases God. Jesus frequently taught spiritual truths with natural things. This week on Inspired2Go, we will learn ways to strengthen our walk with God and live victorious lives by studying the ways of an eagle.
Eagles are very distinguished birds. Just like the lion is the king of the jungle, the eagle is the “King of Birds”. Eagles are ageless and an international symbol of strength, courage, beauty, authority and freedom. God uses the eagle in all its majesty, kingship and sovereignty of the air to describe the Christian and to hint the kind of life he should live.
#Lesson one: The eagle in a storm
When a storm rages, unlike other birds that hide in the leaves and branches of the trees, the eagle instead perches majestically on a rocky mountain and looks into the eye of the storm with confidence, as if to say, “Hallelujah, here comes another storm, another chance to ride higher than I did the last time.” It opens its wings and allows the force of the violent wind to lift it to great heights, using that which is meant to destroy it to be its tool for advancement.
Likewise, we must not be afraid of the storms of life or be perplexed by them; for it is in the midst of our tragedy that opportunity comes to lift us up beyond ourselves and our circumstances. Also, the storms (trials) of life as alluded to by Apostle Paul in Romans 5:3-4 (TLB) helps us to develop patience, strength of character, and trust in God; to make our faith and hope strong and steady in Him.
King David in Psalm 61:2 called God “The rock that is higher than I.” Just as the eagle perches upon the rocky mountain to begin its ascent in a storm, believers must plant their feet on Christ, our Rock of Ages, through absolute faith and trust in His word, He is our stability, our safe refuge, our rock of assurance, and our rock of safety. Don’t let a storm catch you not planted on the Rock, it can be disastrous…your safety is as good as your ‘standing.’
The Hymn writer said, “Rock of Ages, cleft (open) for me, let me hide myself in Thee.” We can rely on Jesus to sustain us and completely deliver us through every storm. When life deals you with heavy blows, when storms rage, just rest in and stand on the promises of Christ Jesus. Let His arms embrace you and His words comfort you. Don’t be cast down or hide away in depression, lift your spirit, raise your head, spread your wings, and get ready to soar higher than the storm. Storm or no storm, you are God’s eagle and you are meant to soar high!

CONFESSION:
Lord, I ask and receive strength to use everything that is meant to destroy me for my advancement. Like the eagle, I rise above the storms of life because You are with me through the storm, and will completely deliver me. Thank You for being my safe refuge and Rock of assurance.
