“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.” – Acts 4:13
REFERENCE:
A look-alike is a person that resembles another, especially someone who looks very similar to a famous person. The Sanhedrin concluded that Peter and John were Jesus’ look-alikes. They knew both men to be untrained fishermen, having no formal education in the prestigious schools of theology of the time, but they were mesmerized by their speech and knowledge.
Peter and John spent time with Jesus listening to His teachings, witnessing His miracles, obeying His commands, and asking Him real-life questions. Unknown to them, their years of contact with Him changed them in all areas of their lives. They did not need to present their credentials as apostles of Christ to anybody. It was evident that they had taken on the likeness of the One they spent time with – transformed into the image of Jesus. They no longer spoke as illiterate fishermen: their language was refined, their visage was bright, their presence commanded respect, their words produced results, and their prayers birthed miracles. They looked nothing like where they were born, lived, or worked. They reminded the Sanhedrin of one Person – Jesus! The only logical explanation for this change was that they had been with Him.
Everything you read about or admire in Jesus can also manifest in your life. Jesus said, “…he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do…” (John 14:12). Your life can be a display of ‘greater’ works, but the price to pay is – ‘fellowship.’ Invest in spending time with Jesus in bible study, prayers, and church attendance (being where the Word is taught, and where others share testimonies about Him). Soon, your spouse, children, colleagues, and friends will notice there is a change in your behavior, attitude, and talking. They will testify of the beauty of God upon your life, and their only logical conclusion will be that you have been with Jesus.
There should be a resemblance between a Christian and Jesus as there is between a copy and an original. God plans that you become a Jesus’ look-alike here on earth. If you so become, you will walk in victory over demons and all life’s challenges; your life will be a wonder!
