PETER’S PRISON BREAK

“…and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off his hands” – Acts 12:7b

Herod’s harassing hand eventually reached Peter and kept him locked up in prison. A prison represents bondage, limitation, and loneliness. In addition to these, Peter had a death sentence hanging over his head; Herod planned to move him from prison to the executioner. It is satan’s modus operandi: steal, kill and destroy. He begins with bondage, a little pain, depression, fear, negative thoughts or words, or an addiction, but the ultimate goal is the executioner.

Peter was bound, but the church was free to pray; they petitioned God for him. When every other gate is closed, heaven’s gate is wide open and its access code is prayer – the ultimate weapon against Herod’s harassing hands. Herod may have power in the earth realm, but prayer gives you power in the spirit realm which ultimately controls the earth realm. Herod has swords, but you have tongues, he has soldiers, you have angels, he has prisons, you have prayer and praise.

What manner of prayer would fetch an angel out of heaven to fetch Peter out of prison? The type of prayer the church deployed: constant, persistent, and unwavering prayers. It is earnest, serious, passionate, and urgent. Prayers that lack passion and persistence say to God that you have no burden for what you pray about, and you cannot expect God to care about things you do not care for. The lack of passion and persistence in prayers is because we fail to see what the consequence might be if we do not remain earnest in prayers.

If Peter had not come out of prison, he would have died. If you allow a mild stomach ache, bad thought, evil threat, bad news, etc., to remain without praying, you may end up dealing with something bigger than you bargained for. Peter had peace and slept only because of prayers. He came out of prison, rescued from the jaws of death because constant prayers went up to God. Prayer will do the same for you. Prayer regards no walls and is intimidated by no chains.

Do you have a loved one in prison? Are you laboring under a weight, carrying a needless burden, or being harassed by Herod? The weapons we fight with are not worldly, they have the divine power to demolish strongholds, arguments, and every evil plot that tries to make God a liar in our lives. Take up that prayer point again. Don’t quit praying about the breakthrough you expect. Don’t get used to your prison; your angel is on the way, and he will prison-break you.

PRAYERS

+ Father, I decree a release over myself, my family, and loved ones; a release from every satanic shackle and bondage. I nullify every demonic intention or sentence of death hanging over us.

+ I receive the grace to remain in the place of prayer until God sends an angel for my rescue and release. I will emerge from every shackle and imprisonment a better man/woman.

+ I decree fulness of Joy upon my family and me. I will enjoy soundness of mind, full-term pregnancies and babies, promotion, all-around progress, and peace and calm in every area of life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
