I WILL NOT FORGET YOU

“Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely, they may forget, yet I will not forget you.” ~ Isaiah 49:15

We get to that point sometimes when we look at delayed breakthroughs, unanswered prayers, or harvests of our seeds that are yet to come and ask, like Zion, “Has the Lord forsaken and forgotten me?”  You may feel forgotten, but God says today, “I WILL NOT FORGET YOU!”

After years of captivity and unfulfilled deliverances, Zion felt abandoned! They were going through a cycle of pain and shame, and although called God’s own, they felt abandoned by God in their trying moments. It seemed God was oblivious to their misfortunes. In times like this, we question God’s love and commitment to us; yes, when time has passed on what you are going through or expecting from God, it is easy to come to the same conclusion.

God spoke to allay their worries and assured them of His care using a nursing woman and her child. A nursing mother is very sensitive to the needs of her child. When my wife had our first son, she would be sleeping in a separate room from the child, but if the child turned or made a little sound, she woke up. It is a mystery that still surprises me. The attention of a nursing mother is continually on her child, responding to his needs. She will not let him out of her sight because the child is helpless: she helps him with everything at the right time. It is impossible for this woman to forget her child, going a whole day without thinking about the baby.

Likewise, child of God, God will not forget you. It is a decision He has made; nothing can snatch you from His care and watchful eyes. You may feel alone, but you are never alone; God is with you. In your dark and lonely moments, He is still there. He said, “I have inscribed you on the palm of My hand and your walls are continually before Me.” We use our hands every day. We will see anything tattooed on them every time we use our hands. Likewise, being inscribed on God’s hand, you are the center of His attention; He sees you and your situation.

A nursing mother’s relationship with her child speaks of committed affection. God knows and cares. He knows what you lack, desire, or wish for. God heard the prayer you said, saw the kind deed, the exam you wrote, the proposal you made, and the interview you attended. He will not forget you; He is affectionately committed to you. If God is on your side, victory is sure. God has promised you His faithfulness; it is not about feelings but a matter of faith in His promise. Some challenges of life may threaten a mother-child relationship, but not so with God. He will never leave nor forsake you; He said, “I WILL NOT FORGET YOU.”
