“And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. But He said to them, “Where is your faith?” ~ Luke 8:24&25
REFERENCE:
In the last devotional, we understood that life would often throw us into circumstances where the only appropriate response would be faith, nothing else. When we get daunted and crushed by these challenges, Jesus asks us, as He did His disciples, “Where is your faith?”
When Jesus asked His disciples this question, He wondered why they did not have faith in His word. They did not believe that when He said, “Let us go to the other side”, it would be so. Failure to stay with the promises of God when confronted with the storms of life indicates that faith is absent. Jesus also wondered why they did not take the initiative to address the situation as He did. A man who has learned to speak authoritatively to his mountains is a man of faith.
The third and most important truth Jesus brought to their attention was this: Where is your faith if in praying to Me, the language of your prayer is one of hopelessness, fear, and doubt? When the disciples prayed to Jesus, they said, “Master, Master, we are perishing.” Sadly, this is how the prayers of many sound: “Lord, things are so tough. Father, the landlord will soon throw us out. Jesus, if You don’t come through, that is it; I’m finished.” That is not faith.
There is a language of faith; it is a language of hope, gratitude, positivity, possibility, and victory. Faith speaks the word of God. If the disciples had prayed with the language of faith, it could have sounded like: “Lord, there is a situation; honor Your word above the storms, and manifest Your power.” “Arise O God, and let Your enemies (winds) be scattered.” “Lord, we thank You for Your unfailing love, and for the help and healings that will happen on the other side.”
The disciples’ prayer was born out of fear and not faith. In Mark 4:38, this is what they said, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Lack of faith in God questions His love, ability, and care for us. Prayers that weaken God’s ability and strengthen our fears point to our lack of faith. Listen when you pray; your prayer points reflect your faith or fear. When faith possesses your heart, it will prompt your mouth. I ask you again, “Where is your faith?”
Faith is a needed companion/armor in the times we live. Keep the switch of faith turned on.

PRAYERS:
+ Father, from today, I cease to pray prayers borne out of fear, anxiety, doubt, and ignorance.
+ Train my mouth in the language of faith; I declare only the counsel of God. My utterances are conditioned by the word of God.
+ I attract God’s intervention in my life now, and I command every storm around me, Be Still!
Faith speaks with Authority!
Faith, like Love, is ACTION!, it works.
Faith has a language, it speaks what it believes!
I will listen more to the language of my prayer and be sure it is that of faith. If not, I am already disqualified from getting the answers.
I speak the language of faith, not fear. I speak authoritatively to my mountains. My words are shaped by God’s word In Jesus name.
