“Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.” ~ Genesis 18:14
REFERENCE:
Although God dwells in eternity, He gives us time to govern events and measure our activities—a day before the Lord is like a thousand years to us, and vice versa. Scripture says, “Known to God from eternity are all His works” (Acts 15:18). Whatever God does in eternity will at some point correspond with a date on our calendar; it will manifest at an appointed time and season.
You might wonder why Abraham and Sarah had to wait so long for a child, but it was known to God from eternity that their child would come; however, it would have to happen when God appointed. There are things you fret over and wonder when they will happen; God has already concluded them in the womb of eternity, and they shall soon be born in time.
We can excuse Sarah for her seeming doubt. She had tried to have a child for decades without seeing results, so her mind got conditioned that she would never bear a child. When the Angel of the Lord came to give her God’s word, it was already ‘too late,’ and her mind could no longer conceive the idea. In a way, her mindset – the belief system- became her biggest problem.
Have you been repeatedly challenged in an area of life to the point that your mind believes you can’t have a different outcome? Maybe you have attended several job interviews without getting the job of your dreams or gone through several procedures to have a baby, but it hasn’t happened. Perhaps it is a series of failed relationships that would have led to marriage but didn’t, or even a worse case than all of these. God is not done with you yet.
Like Sarah, you may be at a point where you have allowed your experiences to gain supremacy over the word of God so that even when there is a prophecy about a change in your situation, your mind can’t believe or receive it. It ought not to be so. God has a program that He is working with; it may look delayed to you, but mercy is running toward you. God is not done with you.
