Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm. – Daniel 6:3
REFERENCE
Daniel 6:1-3
God is a God of excellence and He created us in His image. He is not a shabby God, for the Bible says, “He does all things well.” (Mark 7:37)
Statistics shows us that ‘poor service’ is the number one reason why companies lose businesses. Why? Because excellence attracts but mediocrity repels.
As we look around us in our country, mediocrity surrounds us, poorly done buildings, poorly sewn clothes, dilapidated transportation, dirty classrooms, low-budget & mediocre home movies and poor services businesses. However, as believers, God wants us to be different; He wants us to show the world His Excellencies!
To be excellent is to do remarkably and extremely well. It is going the extra mile. You cannot keep doing what you have always done and expect a different result. ‘Nobody puts new wine in old wine skins…’ (Mark 2:22).
God wants us to approve only excellence in every department of our lives; our family, business, ministry, professional practice, dressing, household, etc.
To achieve this, we must be ready to go beyond our comfort zones, stop making excuses for mediocrity and commit to growth & improvement for the rest of our lives. This goes beyond mere mental assent or just saying it, it has to be a behavioral change.
