“Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel: “My way is hidden from the Lord, and my just claim is passed over by my God”?” ~ Isaiah 40:27
Reference
Life can get so tough with troubles coming back-to-back that you wonder if God sees or cares about you. The pressures of life can overwhelm the mind so that it completely shuts out the possibility that there is a God who cares, sees, and gets personally involved in our lives.
Israel’s captivity lasted so long that they began to murmur against God. They wondered if God knew what they were going through, if He saw the afflictions they endured, and the time that had elapsed with no hope of deliverance. They complained that their ‘way was hidden’ from the Lord, and their just claim (their sonship, service, and love for God) that should qualify them for God’s intervention, seemed to have been ignored by God.
When our expected deliverance and answer seem to delay, our first thought is often, “God is unhappy with me. He has forgotten my address and does not care how or if I pull through this trouble.” Well, Isaiah said, “Have you not known or heard that God never faints nor is weary; He gives power to the weak and those who have no might. For those who will trustingly wait on Him, He will renew their strength, give them stamina, and give them eagles’ wings to rise above their present predicament.” God sees and cares about you. The songwriter said, “I sing because I’m happy; I sing because I’m free. His eyes are on the sparrow; I know He watches over me.”
One night, a house was on fire, and a young boy had to flee to the roof. His father stood on the ground below with outstretched arms, calling to his son, “Jump, I’ll catch you!” He knew the boy had to jump to save his life. However, afraid to jump down, all the boy could see was flame, blackness, and smoke. His father kept yelling: “Jump! I will catch you.” But he protested, “Daddy, I can’t see you.” The father replied, “But I can see you, and that’s all that matters.”
Like this boy, we are often blinded by what we are going through. We fail to see God’s outstretched arms or hear His voice leading us. But God is saying, “But I can see you; I’ve got you. Just trust in Me.” Unbelief puts our circumstances between God and us, but faith puts God between us and our circumstances. Trust that beyond the flame, blackness, and smoke, there is a God that is ready to catch you. You may think you are in a bad situation, forgotten by God, but God says, “But I can see you.” He will come and save you! Hold on: help is on the way!

PRAYERS:
+ Lord, I commit to trusting You, even when I don’t seem to see a way out of my situation.
+ Lord, reassure my heart of Your love and commitment to me; so that when I can’t see Your hands, I will learn to trust Your heart.
+ Despite present troubles, I am coming forth as gold. My latter will be better than my past.
Dogged faith, even through the hot flames and thick black smoke, first affirms that on the other side there is a good God with open arms, saying, “Jump, trust Me, I am here, arms open wide, I will catch you”.
Second, it jumps! It might even be accompanied with a scream, saying ‘catch me Lord!’
As surely as the Lord lives, He still listens, He keeps His Word, oh yes, here I am, in His arms, Safe and Secure!
This is my prayer, my affirmation of faith.
Amen!
Amen and amen!
Great thoughts.
He gives me peace
When troubles blow
Jehovah sees
Jehovah knows
Great song. Timeless truth.
You’re all I want,
You’re all I ever needed,
You’re all I want,
Help me know YOU are near.
Amen 🙏🏼
