But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, ‘Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.’ – Acts 5:19-20
REFERENCE
Acts 5:12-21
Sometimes, when we pray, expecting God to bring us out of a bad situation or a tight place, our motives for those prayers don’t particularly honor God, and we know God will not answer selfish prayers that do not bring glory to Him (James 4:3).
The reason God brings us out of every imprisonment or a bad situation is so that we can go preach the good news; so we can serve Him, so we can help or influence others for Him, so we can share our testimonies and tell the world about His power to deliver from all oppressions of satan.
In today’s passage, God knowing the motives of the Apostles, that they will fulfill His purpose for their lives and glorify Him on their release, went ahead and sent an angel to release them. They did not even have to pray for their own release.
Pause today and look at all your prayer points; ask yourself, “What is in this for God? What does He stand to benefit? Who will be blessed, helped or encouraged, should God answer these prayers?” This exercise can hasten God’s response to your prayers. God is a wise God, He will like to do one thing, that will have a domino effect on several other things.
This THURSDAY, TUNE your motives to honor God, and you shall TESTIFY of answered prayers, in Jesus name!
ADDITIONAL STUDY
Luke 1:74, Acts 7:6-7 and James 4:1-3.
PRAYER POINT
Ask for grace to be selfless in the things you do, and to truly become a channel of God’s blessings; His hands and feet to touch humanity and bring glory to His name.
