Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours. Genesis 37:3 (KJV)
REFERENCE
Genesis 37:1-11, 23-28 (KJV)
Joseph had a coat of many colors given to him by his father; a symbol of his love for him as well as to show him his significance and uniqueness in life. Unlike an earthly father, God doesn’t have favorites amongst his children; He loves us equally and has given each of us a unique coat of colors which differentiates us from others.
Your coat of colors is the innate gifts and abilities (music, writing, acting, teaching, cooking, administrating, etc.,) God put in you to reveal to nations, generations, and all kinds of people so you can add value to mankind and create a niche for yourself. In His goodness, God gave you your unique color to make you ‘STAND OUT’ in life.
Joseph’s brothers disliked him because of his unique coat of colors; and they were intimidated by his big dreams. Unknown to them, they also had a God-given unique color inside them, and Joseph’s dream could not stop them from having big dreams too. Likewise, people may dislike you primarily for your coat of colors and your dreams. But, you do not have to change who you are; remove your coat, be afraid to dream, try to fit in or be like another person. Otherwise, you will be saying to God that He made a mistake when He made you, and what He did in you was not good enough.
Furthermore, God did not give you a unique coat of colors so you can die a local champion, He intends for you to have global relevance. Like Joseph, expand your dream and make it bigger. Do not let anything or anyone contain your mind. Whatever color God has given you, allow it to grow and develop. Concentrate on it, sharpen it to make it more colorful and use it for His glory.
Just as Joseph was HATED simply because of his COAT, the devil fights you because of what you are carrying, and because of the huge impact it will have in the world. Do not let him strip you of your unique coat with his incessant temptations and trials; rather, be determined to reveal your God-colors to your world!
