And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD – ‭‭II Kings‬ ‭19:14‬

(Continued from yesterday…)

The first thing Hezekiah did when he received the letter of threat from the Rabshakeh, was to spread it before the Lord. There are certain letters (medical report, termination letters, eviction notices, etc.), that you must not respond to in the flesh, but must take to the Lord.

When certain issues look foreboding, become a mountain, or they begin to threaten and instill fear, thoughtless and fearful response should not be rashly given to them. They must ‘first’ be presented to the Lord in prayers; let His verdict be your verdict.

Secondly, Hezekiah admitted before the Lord the might and conquest of the Assyrians, he did not just ‘cover up’ the facts before the Lord, as many of our insincere prayers do. Faith in God does not deny the facts, but it does exalt and elevate God and His word above the facts.

Prayer must put God and the issues confronting us in the proper perspective, the problem as diminutives, and God as Omnipotent and All Capable. Never allow the facts of your situation to disembowel you; our God is bigger and well able, and through our God, we shall do valiantly…

Finally, King Hezekiah’s prayer seeks the glory of God in its answer. It seeks that God wil be exalted and magnified amongst the nations, and that He will come to be known, revered and perhaps proselyted to.

One ingredient, among others , that will assure answered prayer, is that the answer to the prayer will make God and not self, happy and honored. It must be such that when the answers come, people will say, “This is the finger of God, may His name be praised.”

The components of this prayer was the game changer for Hezekiah and the Israelites in that dicey situation. Can you take a cue from it?

PRAYER
+ Sincerely pray with faith in your heart for God’s intervention to turn around that negative report that is confronting you; ask that His hand of mercy will deliver you, so that all who hear of it will give glory to His name.

+ If you have the actual document of negative report (medical, career, financial, etc), literally present them before God in prayers.
