So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. – 1 Kings 17:15

Faith is taking a risk based on God’s word; it means belief in the word of God to the point of acting on it. The widow in our passage today took a risk based on the word of God Elijah gave her; it wasn’t a convenient thing for her to do but it was absolutely necessary for her sustenance. This shows us that faith is not always convenient, it puts a demand on you and it requires an action from you.
It is faith that would make someone take the risk of giving tithes and offerings to God even when they don’t have enough to take care of their needs; it is also faith that would make another take the risk of expecting God’s supply for their need instead of stealing or messing around to get the supply. As believers, we have all been given the measure of faith and we need to exercise that faith because without it we cannot please God.
God was displeased with the Israelites because they didn’t have faith in His ability to supply their needs (Psalm 78:20-22). Therefore, let our actions prove our faith in God at all times. If you however feel deficient when it comes to walking in faith, there is hope for you, the word of God is the source of faith; so the more your intake of the word, the more open you are to walking in faith and seeing the victory.
