“Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.” ~ Genesis 18:14
REFERENCE:
God is often limited in our lives by the limits our minds set for Him – ‘There are no mountains anywhere; every man’s mountain is in his mind.’ God is not done with you yet; He is still working, building, and preparing you for His best. You have not seen the final chapter of your life yet, but your mindset governs your actions and determines how far you go.
If your mind cannot conceive God doing great things in you, it will be challenging to experience it physically. Like we saw with Sarah, constant failure can get you to a point where you begin to doubt yourself and place boundaries in your mind, but God sets no such limits. Fight and overcome any mindset that limits you; refuse to let it be a feature in your life next year.
Life is often not about what happens to you; what matters is how you perceive and respond to what happens to you. You are not stuck with a past failure, disappointment, or setback; these all can change. God can give you a different experience in the coming year that does not resemble your past. In our case study, Sarah became fully persuaded about God’s word and could see possibility in her mind; then the promise came to pass in her life. You can, too.
As we cross over to a new year in a few days, consciously get rid of killer mindsets like:
· “I am helpless.” That is not true; God is your helper (Hebrews 13:5).
· “My situation is hopeless.” Consider Lazarus in the grave and Ezekiel in the valley of dry bones. (John 11:43-44, Ezekiel 37:2-10).
· “I can’t; it is impossible.” Nothing is impossible with God. Remember Sarah? (Hebrews 11:11).
· “I am too ashamed to start all over.” The prodigal son wasn’t ashamed, so you shouldn’t (Luke 18:18-19).
· “I failed before, what is the guarantee it will work?” Ask Joseph (Gen. 41:51-52).
I often say that “There is no greater failure in life than the man who has stopped trying!” God is not done with you yet; don’t give up on yourself, too. Refuse the devil’s lie; your destiny will be better, sweeter, and richer than your history, in Jesus’ name.
