“Moreover, David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” – I Samuel 17:37
REFERENCE:
History can often be our friend. When dealing with present challenges or uncertainty about the future, the history of God’s past dealings with you can strengthen you. If God ever did something for someone or you in the past, it indicates that He can still do the same. This is because one of God’s strong virtues is faithfulness. To be faithful is to be loyal, steadfast, constant, and steady. He said about Himself, “For I am the Lord, I do not change; that is why you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed” (Malachi 3:6). So, you can trust Him completely.
David faced a threat where all the odds were against him, but he confidently stepped up to the occasion to king Saul’s surprise. He looked at him and said, “How can you, a shepherd boy, face this Philistine giant who has been a decorated soldier since his youth? You have no training for this. Older men have failed at this. It may cost your life.” David replied, “I have a history with God; I have had fights where the odds were against me – with an angry lion and a raving bear; yet, with God’s help, I overcame with my bare hands. The God who did that for me will do it again.” David’s history with God boosted his faith and triggered his victory in that fight against Goliath; he prevailed over the giant with just a sling and a stone.
I am certain that you have a good history with God, else that business setback would have stopped you, that problem would have swallowed you, the failed investment would have ruined you, that sickness could have taken your life, and the heartbreak could have stopped you. Therefore, be confident that God who delivered you in the past, can and will still deliver you from your present challenge. His track record is good: He reversed Ruth’s shame of widowhood; He turned Naomi’s mourning into dancing; He rescued 3 men from a furnace of fire, and snatched Lazarus out of death’s jaw.
If God did all these for you and these bible characters, He will do it again. His faithfulness would not permit Him to let you suffer; He is too faithful to fail you. Your past victories indicate that victory is still possible. You will be victorious. Life may not be fair, but God is faithful. You may not know how and you may not know when, but God will do it again. You will come out of this unscathed, and you will return with a testimony, in Jesus’ name.
