“And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that you can understand a dream, to interpret it.” ~ Genesis 41:15
REFERENCE:
What would abruptly end the jail term of a common prisoner and bring him before the leader of a great nation so that he could engage him in a conversation? Recommendation.
The imprisonment of Joseph was unjust; he had reasons to be bitter, angry, and snobbish, but he was not. He served and coordinated other prisoners as authorized. Joseph interpreted the dreams of fellow inmates, even when the interpretation of his dream was not fulfilled. He did not know these good deeds would speak for him in the future; he was just being himself – God’s child. He did them in secret, though they eventually vouched for him in public – in the palace.
What is heard about you can affect how far you go in life. Very often, someone is talking about you to someone, or in some quarters, and their comments may/can make or break you. The right person heard the right thing about Joseph, and it righted the wrong in his life; it changed the trajectory of his life. Joseph came highly recommended to Pharaoh; if you go anywhere with a good recommendation, doors open easier. A mere steward put in a word for Joseph.
When life causes your path to cross with the most ‘ordinary’ of men, be mindful of how you act and relate. You do not know if they have a voice in the courts of kings and can do you the honor of a good recommendation. The phrase, “I have heard about you,” can get you married, give you a job, business, discount, new clients, and generally open doors of favor to your next level. What is said of you (or heard about you) will decide what can be committed to you.
Ruth got recommended to Boaz. He said, “It has been fully reported to me, all that you have done for your mother-in-law.” The recommendation of Daniel to Belshazzar led to his promotion. That of David to Saul took him to the palace. May you be recommended in the courts of kings this week, in Jesus’ name. May you receive a phone call or a correspondence that will open new doors for you, and the content will be, “We/I have heard about you…”
