“Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.” ~ Genesis 18:14
REFERENCE:
The picture that comes to my mind is that of a young man who is about to leave his fiancée to travel abroad to study for four years. She is worried and uncertain about the future of their relationship if he would still marry her considering the ‘exposure’ to other ladies abroad. But he assures her thus, “I will keep my words, I will return to you, not another, and marry you.”
Like this lady, God told Sarah (through Abraham) that He would return next year to do what they had waited for for many years. It looked improbable that what didn’t happen for decades would happen within a year. It sounded so preposterous that Sarah laughed, and you can’t blame her. You probably would too, especially since the person saying this looked normal to her. She did not know that it was the Angel of the Lord veiled in flesh. He said, ‘I’ will return to you.
You can trust God to keep His word and do what He says He will do, no matter what happens and how long it lasts. If He says, ‘I will return to you,’ He will return and do what He has promised. That statement signaled to Abraham that their matter was moving from the realm of impossible into that of possibility. It was going to put an end to their waiting.
“I will return to you,” means your set time has come. It means that the matter is already resolved and will happen without fail. Your season of waiting and weeping is over; God will return to you and make it all good. He will not leave you in a position of waiting and wondering. His return will put a testimony in your mouth; your laughter of doubt will turn to laughter of celebration.
Do you have an impossible situation like Abraham and Sarah? Say to God this morning, “Lord, I anticipate Your return to turn it for my good. I stand in faith knowing that what has stood as a mountain in my life shall be resolved.” I announce to you who think that God has forgotten about you that God is coming, and His reward is with Him; He will return to give you a mighty testimony.
