“Every one of their bows is broken; for the Lord is the God of recompense, He will surely repay.” – Isaiah 51:56b

REFERENCE: Jeremiah 51:49-56

God noted all that Babylon did in plundering Israel and promised to pay back. Babylon will know Him as Jehovah Gmolah (‘ghem-oo-law’), the God of recompense (compensation, reward, restitution, or return). He is the God who avenges and pays back; He will not allow His children to suffer wrong without getting redress. He ensures that every action, good or bad, gets its due reward. He is the administrator (supervisor) of seedtime, harvest, and due season. He ensures that every seed sown bears an appropriate and befitting harvest.

Knowing this name of God should empower you. You can have a say over the kind of outcomes you want in life, knowing that all Jehovah Gmolah needs is a seed (action, words, gifts, etc.). So, before you act or decide, ask yourself, “Will I like the payback on this?” Romans 12:17-19 counsels, “Never pay back evil for evil…live peaceably with others…never avenge yourselves, let God do that, for He said, ‘Vengeance is Mine.’” It says, “If your enemy is hungry, feed him.” Why? Because Jehovah Gmolah eventually turns your actions into harvests. Don’t let someone make you do something you don’t want as a harvest. Let God handle them.

TO BENEFIT FROM JEHOVAH GMOLAH:

  1. Maintain great confidence in His promise to reward or repay. Hebrews 10:35– “Do not cast away your confidence, for it has great reward.”
  2. Do to others what you want to be done to you, even when correcting them. Galatians 6:1– “If a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.”
  3. Invest in your spirit and your walk with God. It rewards with eternal lifeGalatians 6:8
  4. Repent quickly. Repentance speaks ‘crop failure’ over wrong seeds, keeping you from getting the recompense of a bad deed.

Like Israel, you may have suffered wrong, or one stronger than you (Babylonians) is taking advantage of you. Jehovah Gmolah knows and sees. 2 Thessalonians 1:6-7 says, “God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well…” You are in good hands, be at rest; focus on your race, and don’t get into a fight – that is what the devil wants. Jehovah Gmolah has you covered. He will right every wrong.
