“Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one; God has shown Pharaoh what He is about to do: The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads are seven years; the dreams are one.” Genesis 41:25-26
REFERENCE
Genesis 41:1-36
There is always a place for preparation in life even though we have God’s assurance of victory. Proverbs 16:9 says, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.” God gives us direction to the best pathways for our lives; but, in order to succeed, we have to make concrete plans to follow those directions. Those plans are like our roadmap (interpretation) to getting to where God wants us to be.
Even though God gave Pharaoh a dream/revelation of what will take place in Egypt, it was Joseph’s interpretation of the dream that saved the day for Pharaoh and all concerned. In interpreting the dream, Joseph suggested a detailed plan for the preservation of foodstuff which would outlast the imminent famine that would affect the whole world. Basically, what Joseph did was to provide practical solutions to what God had shown Pharaoh in his dream; thereby making real in the physical world what was seen in the realms of the spirit.
In the same way, as you seek God for direction in this New Year, or as you present your dreams before Him, you must prepare yourself to follow through with practical plans to suit the accomplishment of the things God would show you or of the dreams you already have. Any dream you have without a plan is just a wish; a plan is what transforms your dream into a strategy.
Therefore, begin to strategize and put practical plans in place for the fulfillment of your dreams this year. Write out different plans, strategies or options to pursue to help you achieve your dreams, e.g. if your dream is to get a higher qualification, make advance arrangements on paper – who to call, where to go, what to get, what information is needed, how much is needed, how to source the funds, etc.
As is often said, “Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance.” If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. If you don’t know where you are going, you will end up anywhere, because every road becomes a road for you. Planning on the other hand increases your possibility for success and ensures that you arrive at your destination. Don’t fold your hands and say, “Let the will of God be done.” Do your part by making plans for your dreams, and God will fulfill His part by blessing those plans and ensuring their accomplishment.
