‘So it was, from the time that he had made him overseer {principal} of his house and all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake…’ – Genesis 39:5a
REFERENCE:
Potiphar, Chief Executioner and Captain of Pharoah’s bodyguards purchased Joseph from the Ishmaelites and God greatly blessed Joseph, so that he succeeded in everything he did. As a result, Potiphar made Joseph Principal, giving him complete administrative responsibility for everything he owned. The Lord also began blessing Potiphar because of Joseph; his household affairs began to run smoothly, his crops flourished, and his flocks multiplied. He did not worry about anything in the world with Joseph there, except deciding what he wanted to eat!
It is important to recognize the grace of God upon your life that makes you prosper in all you do. Like Joseph, you can be the reason God causes your boss’ business to prosper, your family to flourish and your community to thrive. It is wisdom to recognize that gift and harness it. Joseph was faithful in his boss’s business and honest in small responsibilities; as a result, great responsibilities were committed to him. If you are not faithful with other people’s business, you will not be entrusted with yours.
As a Principal, elevation and promotion make you more desirable, but it also attracts temptations and opportunities to fall. Temptation never knocks on the door once; it keeps coming back, so you must be ready to overcome it. Christ promises a seat on His throne for overcomers. When Joseph fled from Potiphar’s wife, he lost his coat, job, source of income, freedom, dignity and respect. You have to hate sin so much that you care nothing about what you will lose when you flee.
Joseph worked very hard without supervision. No wonder God made everything he did prosper. He had SEEN a glorious future for himself, so he said NO to anything that would jeopardize it. What have you seen about your own life? What you SEE will determine what you can endure. SEEING victory can help you endure mistreatments and temporal losses. SEEING health and wealth will not let the Doctor’s verdict or your meagre salary unsettle you. Though not easy, it pays to work with the consciousness that everything you do is unto the Lord. He who sees your good acts in secret will reward you openly and make you a Principal.
