Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, “Why are we sitting here until we die?”- II Kings 7:3

II Kings 7:1-8
Have you sometimes wondered why many Christians still walk in defeat? It is largely due to ignorance and inactivity. Romans 8:19-22 reveals that the whole of creation is waiting on you (son of God) to take your place in authority, because they understand that God gave you dominion over them. Therefore, nothing moves until you move.
From our passage, we see that after the word of God comes, what is expected is that you believe and move! Elisha spoke but the Special Adviser to the king on Economic Matters doubted (though he heard it with the physical ears). However, the 4 lepers, though not physically there, represent those who hear the word with their hearts/spirit and get provoked to action.
A quick examination of the actions of these four lepers reveal useful life lessons we can apply to living victorious lives.
First, we noticed that they sat at the entrance of the gate – this suggests that you are always at the threshold of something great. I wonder what gate you are sitting at right now that you are not entering or what gate has been shut to you?
Secondly, they said to one another “Why sit here till we die.”– You will never see a need to move until you question your situation, your progress, your output, your marriage, your business. Until you get tired of the status quo, you will not move. Something must burn you enough to make you get off and go…so don’t pray for the fire around you to die right now, let it propel you to go! Mike Murdock said, “You cannot change what you are willing to tolerate.”
“Why sit we here until we die?’ Something dies when you sit for too long – a gift, an opportunity, an anointing, a friendship, a calling, etc. To SIT can mean – To delay action or decision concerning something. (Sitting speaks of inactivity, lethargy, unconcern, defeat, acceptance of status quo, unwillingness to try, and a giver-up spirit). Even a car parked in a place for too long begins to develop fault.
