“I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.” ~ John 5:30
REFERENCE:
Although we have eyes, we can only see so far; although we have ears, we can only hear so much, and although we have brains, we only know so much at a time. There are things we do not know because of these limitations of our nature, and life is always about making decisions. It follows then that we cannot depend on ourselves; we must live as led by God.
Have you ever been in a situation where you were in unfamiliar territory and only found your way when a resident of the area gave you directions? This life is unfamiliar territory; you have not been this way before. Therefore, you need to turn to God, who has been around and has the map to navigate life. He knows the turns you must take at different junctions of life.
God knows all things and lives in the future. He has led many before now into lives of success and impact: Abraham, Noah, David, and Jesus Christ. The secret is what Jesus tells us in our key text, “I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge…” He was always in touch with headquarters and listened to God for direction; hence, his life of impact. Wisdom calls us to constantly ask God for direction, especially when at ‘forks’ on the road to destiny. Our safety is in His leading.
A man trying to find a place had roamed in circuits for many minutes until he saw a young boy and asked him, “Please, how do I get to the Zoo?” The boy told him, “Go to the second street, turn right by the grocery store, and walk down. That will take you to a cross junction; when you get there, ensure to enquire again.” “Ensure you enquire again!” To live as led, you must ensure you repeatedly enquire from God. Never think you know what to do. Don’t do it!
God is always willing to instruct and guide you. He wants to speak to you about every aspect of your life. Decide to listen for His voice as He talks to you through the scriptures, sermons, and the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Rather than ask for direction, it is only an arrogant person who continues along a path even when he knows he has lost his way; if you want to save yourself unnecessary pain, losses, or time, tune to God’s frequency and decide to live as led.
