“You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.’ And this is a simple matter in the sight of the LORD…” – II Kings 3:17-18
REFERENCE:
We often make plans and conclusions based on what happens around us. If you lose your job or source of income, you easily conclude that things will be challenging unless you get a job soon. You begin to psyche yourself to get ready for a desert experience. However, God is not limited by what you see, lose, earn, or do. He is unhindered by your situations or the lack of friends who can help you; He is a God of supernatural supply; He will give you a miracle in the desert.
Jehoshaphat and Jehoram were in a difficult situation. They traveled seven days circling the wilderness of Edom to battle with Mesha, king of Moab. After seven days of trudging through the wilderness, the men and horses were thirsty, and there was no water. Elisha was called and inspired by a minstrel; he asked the kings to dig ditches to hold water. It was a strange request to dig ditches when even a well in such a desert would have to go very deep to get water.
The deal was this: if you dug the ditches, you would neither see wind nor rain, but God would fill them with water. The following day, at prayer time, water miraculously came through Edom and filled the ditches with water. What was the significance of digging ditches? God called them to act in faith, believe Him for water in the desert, and act according to their expectations. Would they believe that water will come into the desert and dig?
My wife and I have often found ourselves in situations where there seemed no way out, but God always came through. We have had mind-blowing miracles of unexpected financial provisions, great discounts, free accommodation, and unexpected gifts. We have witnessed God’s miracle in the desert – last-minute interventions, turnarounds, and breakthroughs. These had often happened because we released faith to act even when the facts were unfavorable.
As a couple, we neither saw the wind nor rain, but God filled our valley with water. You may be in a desert wondering how God will supply you with ‘water.’ Don’t let the dryness around you keep you from trusting for a miracle in the desert. Get into a thanksgiving and praise mode, and be ready to do what God says – start the business, fill out the form, apply for the funds, call the company, etc. If you do what God says, no matter how absurd, you will see a miracle in the desert.
