The state of knowing all things is ‘Omniscience.’ Our Lord Jesus Christ is Omniscient; He knows all things and nothing is hidden from Him, whether visible or invisible, all things are open and laid bare before His eyes. David said about Him, “O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and are intimately acquainted with all my ways.” (Psalm 139:1-3). Wow! He is intimately aware of everything every man does, every time. This is why in our text, He knew that the owner of that house where He sent His disciples to go and prepare for them to have the Passover, would be sending his servant to fetch water for the Paschal feast the next day. He knew the man would be fetching water at that time and also, where he would be at the time the disciples would meet him. All these He knew from ‘afar.’
Not only is Jesus Omniscient, but He is also Omnipotent – all-powerful. So, when He told the disciples where to go and what to do, it is possible that His omnipotence took immediate effect and made all those events occur, just because He said it. That is if the owner of the house was not preparing for Passover, nor was planning to send his servant for water, nor the servant willing to go, nor unfit to go, but just because Jesus said it, the events we read about in our text were set in motion. This is because His words must not return void and He must be found true whenever He speaks, for He is the Word of God become flesh. If need be, heaven and earth must shift, be adjusted, be halted in their cycles, or even pass away, BUT His words must stand – Hallelujah!
Therefore, don’t be afraid or hesitate to act on Jesus’ word; if He tells you to do anything, you can be rest assured that being all-knowing (Omniscient), He knows the end from the beginning, and He knows that the final outcome will be to your advantage. Also being all-powerful (Omnipotent), He will ensure that as you make a move towards obeying His word, everything will fall in place, so that His word comes to pass.
If you will only be bold of faith enough to act on the words of Jesus Christ, you will see what He says exactly the way He said them. IF YOU WILL LEARN TO HEAR HIS VOICE, YOU WILL BE SURE TO SEE HIS WORKS.
