“Now it happened, as he was telling the king how he had restored the dead to life, that there was the woman whose son he had restored to life, appealing to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life.” ~ II Kings 8:5-6

Nothing changes a man’s life quicker or more dramatically than finding himself at the right place at the right time and with the right people. This rarely happens, but it can happen in your life when God orders your steps. It is the bedrock of all successes: when occasion, time, and opportunity are all embraced in a man’s life, his successful climb will be nothing short of a miracle.
I am sure you have had instances where you were at the right place and time to get the information you needed or meet someone who could help you. Those were not coincidences; God ordered your steps. The Shunammite woman coming before the king while he was being told about how the prophet raised her son to life was not a coincidence. God had a hand in it.
The woman needed her land lost to war restored. It was a big request with a slim chance of being granted. It would have taken God to soften the king’s heart before she got there; hence, He ordered the steps of Gehazi to the palace and his conversation with the king to settle on the woman’s account. Then, He ordered the woman’s steps to enter when the king was mesmerized by her testimony. The king gave the woman her land and all the profit it garnered.
God ordered Ruth’s steps as a stranger in Israel to the field of Boaz. She ‘happened’ on the field to glean after the reapers, but this led her to marry the rich Lord of the field and later become the M.D. of Boaz ventures. Elsewhere, God kept king Ahasuerus awake; he asked for the royal records to be read to him. God ordered the reading of Mordecai’s exploit and Haman’s steps to be in the palace just when the king needed someone to give Mordecai a public honor parade.
One minute of being at the right place at the right time can make all the difference in a person’s life. Timing is powerful and affects so much in our lives. Learn to trust God with the seasons of your life and respond to the promptings of His Spirit. You do not need to know all the details when God leads you. You may not understand the path your life is taking now, but trust God and say to Him, “Order my steps.” He will lead you to green pastures and gentle waters.
