Where can we go up? Our brethren have discouraged our hearts, saying, ‘The people are greater and taller than we…’ – Deuteronomy 1:28
REFERENCE
Deuteronomy 1:21-30
It is easy to become discouraged in the times that we live in because of the economic situation; except for the grace of God, projecting into the future looks quite bleak.
Discouragement is a loss of your confidence or drive, it is a feeling of hopelessness – sensing that what you expect may not happen. It is a potent strategy of the devil to keep your from fulfilling the plan of God for your life.
Discouragement comes to everybody, there are times we all feel the need to quit. It has even made some ‘check out’ on life – no longer actively pursuing their dreams.
Often times, discouragement comes by the voices of fear and negativity you hear around you, just like we saw in our text. Also, when you think you have wasted too much time and lost several opportunities in life, your heart becomes faint because it makes you feel like a failure.
Nevertheless, you can overcome discouragement, if you can:
1. Take your eyes off what doesn’t seem to be working in the environment and focus them on the word of God concerning your well-being.
2. Get away from people who radiate negative energy around you and substitute them with people who encourage you (discouragement is infectious).
3. Trust the heart of God at every point in time – whatever God starts, He finishes, and He has invested too much in you to leave you halfway.
FIGHT BACK THE URGE TO QUIT – IF YOU DON’T QUIT, YOU WILL WIN!
May you have a ‘FORWARD-EVER’ experience this Friday!
