“Then God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and opened her womb.” ~ Genesis 30:22
REFERENCE:
Although Rachael was a loved wife, she remained barren for many years while her rival sister, Lear, bore children like it was going out of fashion. I can imagine the shame, taunting, suspicion, misunderstanding, etc., that Rachael endured from Leah and her neighbors. We serve a God who sees, hears, and cares. As our text reveals, God listened to Rachael’s prayers.
Rachel tried everything possible to have a child, to the extent of giving her maid to Jacob. Yet, the child produced by that union did not give her the satisfaction she sought. Rachel suffered the pain of having no child to run her errands in old age. She gave Leah her right to her husband for a night to have the mandrakes that Leah’s son, Reuben, brought. Mandrake fruits were believed to aid fertility. Hence, Rachel needed that night with Jacob more but had to let go.
As the years passed, it seemed Rachel was doomed to barrenness because even the maids had children for Jacob. I don’t know how long Rachael prayed, fasted, and recruited friends to pray with her, but God listened (heard and answered). He gave Rachel a son – Joseph, who became greater than all the many children of Leah. He became the deliverer of his brethren and their families, a ruler of a world power nation & all his brethren bowed to serve him.
Are you dealing with delays in your life? God has not forgotten you; He has everything figured out and works in your favor. A lady testified that she was posted to work in a foreign country, but the paperwork was delayed. She was unsettled and despaired by the long delay. One day, she turned the TV on and saw planes dropping bombs in that nation; many foreigners were trapped in the mayhem. She realized that God listened and was working behind the scenes.
No prayer of yours goes unheard by God. In the fullness of time, God will do it. He loves you more than you think; He will wipe your tears and cause you to stop being a subject of shame. God listened to Jabez, Jacob, Hannah, Abraham, etc., and He did things we still talk about today for them. God will give you a mind-blowing testimony to roll away your shame and glorify His name. God listened the day you prayed; keep trusting and thanking Him.
