“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” ~ Romans 1:16

Romans 1:16-17
In the gospel of Christ, we have more than first appears to the eyes. It is a comprehensive and needed salvation. Yes, the gospel is good news, but it is more than just information; it has an inherent power. The gospel is not a set of rules of dos and don’ts, nor an advice to people advocating better behavior. The gospel is the power that transforms and lifts men from defeat. The gospel produces not just power; it is God’s power – power for salvation.
Paul, realizing what this power can produce, said he was not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, which produces the power for salvation. ‘Salvation,’ as used in the Bible, is an extensive word that captures the process and power of redemption in all its beautiful varieties. It is the Greek word, Soteria, which is used in a variety of ways, including salvation, deliverance, save, health, help, welfare, safety, victory, Savior, defend, avenge, rescue, and preserve.
The power of salvation equals deliverance from danger and victory over enemies: God told Israel when the Red Sea and the pursuing Egyptian army faced them, “You will see the salvation of the Lord.” It speaks of bodily healing, forgiveness of sins, and freedom from all types of demonic imprisonment and captivity, and it guarantees safety from God’s wrath.
The key to all the deliverables of salvation is the whole gospel of Christ. A weak gospel makes a weak Christian who struggles to experience a whole salvation. From Christ’s gospel, the way to access salvation from sin and its consequences (sickness, curses, fear, bondage, etc.) includes confession, repentance through godly sorrow, and faith in His blood and name.
Do you want to experience God’s power for salvation? Become a student and a friend of the gospel of Christ. Write it on the tablet of your heart through prayerful study and faith. Believe that the life, death, resurrection, and eternal reign of Jesus Christ hold the power for you to live a victorious life over satan, sin, and sickness. God’s power for salvation is yours today.
