REINVENT YOU: DISCOVER YOU

The greatest discovery in life is not the discovery of an oil well or gold mine but self-discovery – who you are, what you have and what you can do. The process of reinventing you ultimately leads to discovering you – the authentic you. When you discover that ‘YOU,’ you will enjoy a sense of fulfilment and satisfaction; you will feel more comfortable in your skin and become your own prime competition.

There is a ‘YOU’ that you are yet to meet, that has the capacity to carry what God wants to do in your life and to walk in the fullness of your purpose. One sure way to discover ‘this person’ is your willingness to take risks, to try out new things, take on new challenges or to rise to new opportunities. You may never know you have good people skills until you find yourself become the cohesive force in a team where such skills are needed. Your potential for human resource management may never blossom until you find yourself leading an organization with 10-20 people. You may never know you are a potential event planner until you volunteer to help a friend plan her wedding; the excellent outcome of the event and the accolades from people may eventually introduce you to your new ‘You.’

I didn’t think I could be prolific at writing, until I had to do this devotional every week day – it’s going on its third year now. The disciples didn’t know they were pregnant with the potential to be world changers; their ‘You’ discovery was masterminded by their willingness to take the risk to follow Jesus. Elisha risked it all, burnt his business and followed Elijah, only for him to discover he would outdo Elijah as a prophet. Who knows what is in you? Who knows what you can become? Maybe you have what it takes to become the next governor in your state, a revolutionary healing evangelist, a trailblazer in medical science, a great inventor, etc., WHO KNOWS?

Beloved, the greatest risks God wants you to take is to totally surrender to Him so He can make something meaningful out of your life. In March 1994, I left my familiar and took the risk to surrender my life to Christ. Since then, I have discovered a ‘me’ that I never knew existed…I have literally shocked myself!

So, if you are reading this and you are yet to surrender your life to Christ, this is your big opportunity to discover a new ‘You.’ If you would like to step away from your familiar, to risk it all and surrender to Jesus Christ, pray this prayer:  “Dear Lord Jesus, I acknowledge and confess that I’m a sinner, I believe You died and rose again for my sins, I now receive You into my heart, and surrender to Your Lordship. Make me what You want me to be. Thank You for Your gift of eternal life. Amen.”
