Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of your house, your children like olive plants all around your table. – Psalms 128:3
REFERENCE
Psalm 128:1-6
What a great promise of God. The promise of a happy home where Christ is the center, and love is a hallmark. Understanding that it is not every roof that encloses a home should cause you to place value on the gift of your family. Home is meant to be a haven of peace, a bastion of security and an oasis of love. This gives today’s key verse great importance.
“Wife like a vine” – tender and fruitful. “Children like olive plants” – emblems of peace and of grace (anointing oil). When a family knows tenderness, fruitfulness, peace and grace, their dwelling becomes a desirable habitation.
If you have a family, you have a reason to thank God. If you are not in this world alone, but enjoy connectedness with a brother, a sister, a wife, a husband, children…or even with extended family, you have every reason to thank God. Family is not just an important thing, it is everything. You don’t get to choose your family; they are God’s gift to you…and guess what? ONLY GOOD COMES FROM GOD!
Remember the mischief you did with your siblings while growing up, remember the fights that lasted until the next play time, remember dressing in similar attires during festive occasions, remember daddy’s whip and mummy’s words – remember the gifts, the warmth, the outings… and those very special family moments. These are treasurable unforgettable moments.
Today, take time to thank God for the idea of a family and for putting you in one. Things may not be the way you want them in your family as yet, but remember, thanksgiving has the power to turn things around.
Think back to a special family moment this year and testify!
