As we continue to follow Jairus on his journey to a miracle in Mark 5: 22-43, we remember the 3 things we learnt from Jairus journey so far. In summary, to take every problem to God, to wait on Him in simple trust and finally, to let the testimonies of other people encourage us while we wait to receive ours.
Sadly, while Jesus was having a conversation with the woman who got healed, bad news was heading to Jairus. The news of his daughter’s death came to meet them right there where Jesus had stopped!
Oh the feelings of Confusion, Sadness, Despair, Hopelessness, Guilt, Pain and Anger that Jairus must have felt!
‘If I had come earlier and gotten Jesus, my daughter would not have died and now its over’, or, ‘ if Jesus had not stopped, we would have received help on time’.
You may be reading this and have statements you have made or are making in your hurt, ‘if I had gone for medicals early’ or if ‘I had not taken that loan’ etc.
Thankfully we know how the story ended: Jesus came through! His daughter lived.
There are a few more things to learn from Jairus as he gets to the end of his journey.
He did not turn away from doing what Jesus said, ‘Do not be afraid; only believe’. He followed Jesus and did all He asked until he received his daughter alive. Trust God’s process and obey His instructions even when the situation seems hopeless.
Despite what the crowd was saying, despite what the situation was saying to him, Jairus followed Jesus into the room. He pushed aside his disappointment and discouragement and continued to act in faith even when things seem hopeless.
As we conclude this journey with Jairus, let us be encouraged to keep waiting on Him who is always faithful and fight the temptation to say the wrong things (Proverbs 18:21).
He has promised to give you water in the wilderness, and if He needs to split rocks to cause the water to gush out, He will do so.(Is. 48:21)
I pray that we all continue to be encouraged by Biblical accounts of God’s power and faithfulness as well as our own testimonies and the testimonies of others.
Keep Abiding!!!
