…That man was telling his friend about a dream that he had. He was saying, ‘I dreamed that a round loaf of bread came rolling into the camp of the Midianites. That loaf of bread hit the tent so hard that the tent turned over and fell flat.’ – Judges 7:13 ERV
REFERENCE:
At this point in Israel’s history, the oppression and plunder from the Midianites reduced them to poverty. Gideon, whom God called to lead an army against the Midianites, raised 32,000 men, but God told him to reduce the number to 300 men because He didn’t want them to trust in their numbers. The new development shook Gideon’s confidence. Still, God encouraged him by letting him hear about the rolling loaf of bread in the Midianites’ camp.
A Midian soldier dreamt of a loaf of barley bread that rolled into their camp and hit a tent so hard that it fell. It sounds absurd, but it was a message to Gideon that although he had a small army, lacked confidence, and was timid, he would achieve a great victory. Gideon came from a humble family and dealt with much self-doubt, yet God would record great success for him.
God can and will do extraordinary things through and for you in the remainder of this year. You may feel you have lost some things just as Gideon lost some soldiers; you may lack the strength, criteria, or resources; you may even be tempted to predict your destiny by your history, but don’t do it. If a loaf of barley bread can knock a tent down, God will use you to do great things.
Don’t be intimidated by the size of the project, name of a subject, difficulty level of the exams, money you need to raise, or bills you need to pay. You are grappling with concerns presently, and satan is lying to you that you will fail. Truly, the real ‘intel’ from the camp of the enemy is that they are afraid of you. Yes, you are a loaf of bread, but you can knock tents down. Hallelujah!
If a soft loaf of bread can do this much, Jesus, the bread of life, can do much more with you without your efforts. Gideon certainly did not win the fight with his 300 men. The supernatural took over; God needed Gideon’s obedience, and that did the job. The Midianites turned on one another, and it was fatal. Despite what you have lost this year, making you feel helpless and vulnerable, God will use what you have left to give you the victory you desire. Just obey.
