“Then Moses went up into the mountain, and a cloud covered the mountain.” ~ Exodus 24:15
REFERENCE:
We began to talk about a place in God yesterday where God takes full responsibility for you, and only a few pay the price to discover and enjoy. Moses was one of the very few who had found that place, having heeded the call of God to come up to the mountain. John the revelator also found the place; in Revelation 4:1, a voice in heaven told him, “Come up here!”
Only a few find this place in God because the call to come up here places certain demands on us. The ‘special’ place in God represents several Christian virtues:
a. Submission: It takes the submission of obedience to God to access that place in God. Moses was to come up, and he would receive laws and instructions that he must teach to Israel. The place in God is accessed by obedience and retained by consistent obedience.
b. Separation: Moses had to leave his congregation, the elders, and his closest associates behind. The place in God calls for a conference of two: you and God alone. Separation from friends and the voices of men, media, and money so you could focus on God through faith.
c. Devotion: God said to Moses, “Come and BE THERE.” God did not want Moses to be a visitor to that place but a resident. He wanted him to remain and be devoted to Him. This is a call to a daily time of devotion and constant awareness of God’s presence with you.
d. Commission: We do not go to that place in God to tell God what we want, but to hear what He wants from us. God gave Moses a commission on that mountain, “Go and teach the people.” While you stay with God, He will instruct and commission you for tasks.
e. Seclusion: A cloud received Moses and cut him off the people, and vice versa. To benefit from that place in God, you must be comfortable with extended times away from everyone. Moses was there for forty days and nights. The reason is that God will speak in His own time; He spoke to Moses after seven days. Take time regularly to fast and pray.
I pray that we will be sensitive to hear God call us to ‘come up here’ and respond when He does. There is a place in God that makes a man live like a god on earth, as Moses did, operating in a strange order of power and signs. In fact, at some point, God said to Moses, “I have made you as God unto Pharaoh.” As you find that place, may all the springs of your being open up.

PRAYER:
+ Lord, I ask for the grace to be comfortable with separation and seclusion to spend time with you.
+ Henceforth, let my times of devotion be times of unforgettable encounters with God.
+ Lord, as I spend time with you, let all the fountains of my being open up; let me realize gifts, potential, and dimensions of myself I never knew existed.
