“Behold the proud, his soul is not upright in him; but the just shall live by his faith.” ~ Habakkuk 2:4
REFERENCE:
A lot is happening in every part of the world. It is almost customary to hear some bad news or the other on the TV, and you wonder if any good thing is happening anywhere. Jobs are scarce, mortgages are rising, fuel prices are rising, countries are fighting external and internal wars, and most world currencies are losing value. Thinking about survival in these chaotic times can be extremely troubling.
Habakkuk also had questions about his and his people’s situation. He was puzzled about the general chaos and went to God with his concerns. In His response, God said to him:
1. Write the vision and make it plain – Record the picture God is showing you. Please write it down, and make it clear and straightforward to understand. We find our life’s purpose in His word. He said, “Though the young lions grow weak and suffer hunger, you will lack no good thing” Psalm 34:10. God has a vision of a prosperous future with no lack, despite what is happening to the “Lions.” Get a word and write it down.
2. He may run who reads it – Capture what God has shown you in simple, easy-to-follow steps. Your vision is a picture of your preferred future, so make it clear enough for yourself and those who read it. It is so that it can infuse you with the strength to run, assuring that no negative prediction will condition your life or outcomes. Regardless of what is happening around you, your vision from God is ‘I shall not lack any good thing….”
3. The vision is for an appointed time…it will not tarry – Stay with the vision, not with the news report. Stay with the vision, not with your salary or the increased prices of goods and services, or with the injustice that is going on around you. The vision may not have manifested yet, but keep running, walking, and living in the light of that vision because it will happen and will not delay. Soon, you will see all God said you would see.
4. The just shall live by his faith – Live by your faith in the vision as you look at (consider) and speak it daily. Believe and completely trust in God’s promises to you. Pride makes them think they can make it on their own without God, and sadly there is no guarantee outside of faith in God. Jeremiah 17:5 says, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord.”
These times call for us to live a higher life in God, trusting Him completely with our lives and facing life with the confidence we have from His word. Heaven’s currency can be spent here on earth, and that currency is faith; with it, we can draw on Heaven’s infinite resources. Choose to stay in faith.
