“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” – Luke 10:19
REFERENCE:
In the bible, the serpent represents the devil for his subtlety, cunning, and deception. He was termed ‘that old serpent’ in Revelation, and in Genesis, satan took on the guise of the serpent to deceive Eve. He is man’s avowed enemy who comes to steal our joy, peace, health, etc. He kills businesses, vision, and purpose and ultimately destroys lives. However, Jesus gave us a remedy initiated by His death; He told His disciples, “Trample on serpents and scorpions.”
To trample something means to crush it. It is to tread upon to bruise, crush, or injure heavily. It also means to inflict injury or destruction, especially contemptuously or ruthlessly. Now that is something. Jesus wants you and I to inflict damage on the devil’s kingdom and to crush his works and operations in our lives. That is a humungous task, so he gave us authority.
Authority is the power to influence or command the obedience of another. When Jesus gave us authority, He meant we could now command satan and his forces to leave, stop, or back off. The biggest thing Jesus did for us was to defeat Satan; this singular act ensures that he complies whenever we issue a decree because you now have authority over him. Take your place; put on your ‘gospel sandal,’ and trample upon all the works of satan in your life. Do not spare any.
You have absolute and legal authority over demonic spirits; satan cannot just invade your space and cause mayhem; he will need your permission to. Through Jesus Christ, God has restored the ‘dominion mandate’ of fruitfulness, multiplication, and domination, which He gave to man from the very beginning in the Garden. You can now hold sway over every situation in your life by the status of your new life and existence in Christ Jesus. Don’t let the devil keep your goods.
Satan has lost every right over your life, family, health, business, etc. He only gains the mileage he does because, perhaps, you are ‘letting him,’ you do not know that you bear authority, that you are a king, and where the word of the king is, there is power there. Christ in you is the hope of glory – the Son of Man is in your boat today; stand up and speak to the storms around you; take a walk around and trample (crush, deal a deadly blow, or injure) all the works of the devil.
Receive the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy; henceforth, nothing shall hurt you by any means.
